Fear Before Him: How to Become Holy as God Is Holy

By Sister McConkie

Paragraph 1

In the book of Psalms, we are called to "worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness" and to "fear before him all the earth" (Psalm 96:9). What does it mean to worship God in the beauty of holiness? And how can we become holy as God is holy?

Paragraph 2

Sister McConkie teaches that we can become holy as God is holy by keeping our covenants and by taking the Holy Ghost as our constant companion. When we keep our covenants, we are making a promise to God to obey His commandments and to live according to His will. When we take the Holy Ghost as our constant companion, we are inviting the Spirit of God to dwell in our hearts and to guide us in all that we do.

Paragraph 3

As we keep our covenants and take the Holy Ghost as our constant companion, we will gradually become more and more like God. We will become more holy, more righteous, and more filled with His love. We will also become more able to resist temptation and to overcome the challenges of life. "Fear before him all the earth" is a reminder that we should approach God with reverence and awe. We should recognize that He is a holy and powerful God, and that we should worship Him with all our hearts, minds, and souls.
