Major League Soccer: League Standings, Playoffs, and Championship

League Standings

The Major League Soccer regular season consists of 34 matches for each of the 29 teams in the league. The teams are divided into two conferences, the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. The top seven teams from each conference qualify for the playoffs.

Eastern Conference Standings

Playoffs

The playoffs begin with the Conference Semifinals, in which the top two teams from each conference receive a bye. The remaining eight teams play in single-elimination matches to determine the four teams that will advance to the Conference Finals. The winners of the Conference Finals advance to the MLS Cup, the championship game of Major League Soccer.

Championship

The MLS Cup is the championship game of Major League Soccer. The game is played between the winners of the Eastern Conference and Western Conference. The winner of the MLS Cup is crowned the champion of Major League Soccer.
